Incident in Peru:7 killed, including 2 crew members, in plane crash near World Heritage Site Nazca Lines

A tourist plane has crashed near Peru's famous Nazca Line. Seven people including two crew members of the plane died in the accident. The Transport Ministry of Peru gave information about this incident. The plane was carrying tourists for a tour of the Nazca Lines.

According to information received from the AFP news agency, a Peruvian government official said that the plane crashed near an airfield in the city. At the same time, according to the owner of the plane, Aero Santos, there were a total of 5 tourists including a pilot and a co-pilot in the plane. Two passengers were from Chile.

The ministry said the Cessna 207 single-engine plane belonged to the Aerosantos tourism company, which took off from the small Nazca airport Maria Reiche in the afternoon.

The Nazca Lines are the figures made on the desert

The figures created on the ground in the desert of Lima, the capital of Peru, are known as Nazca Lines. These were carved between 500 BC (BC) and 500 AD (AD). Animals, plants, fictional characters and mathematical figures have been created for many kilometers in these.

They are believed to have been built for some celestial ritual or to serve as a calendar. Most of these figures are visible only from the sky.

Nazca Lines is a UNESCO World Heritage Site

Nazca Lines has got the status of UNESCO World Heritage Sites. A large number of tourists come to see them. Dozens of planes operate from Maria Reiche Airfield.

In October 2020, an Airnazca aircraft crashed near Nazca Lines, in which 4 British tourists and 2 Peruvian crew members lost their lives.
